Wisdumb is an indie rap group headed by Giovanni Quattrochi. G.Q. grew up on the upper west side of manhattan, went to Eleanor Roosevelt HS, and was a Posse Scholar at Trinity College ‘12-‘16. G.Q. started Wisdumb with his childhood friend, when the two of them started competing in slam poetry competitions around NYC.

G.Q.’s introduction to hip-hop was when he was 4 years old, and listened to the soundtrack to Eminem’s 8-Mile on his walkman. Wisdumb takes influence from Eminem, and other rappers like MF DOOM, who perform under the pretense of a fictional persona.

The biggest influence on Wisdumb is Kanye West, specifically his ability to juxtapose complex, sensitive subject matter with popular music and culture. Kanye started by doing this with Jesus Walks, and continues to do it today with the topic of mental health. Wisdumb aims to TURN UP.. and discuss mental health, addiction to drugs and alcohol, and other stigmatized subjects.

Wisdumb creates content based on Marshall McLuhan’s famous quote, “Advertising is the greatest art form of the 20th century.”

Other rappers that influence Wisdumb are Mos Def, Outkast, Atmosphere, Black Thought, J. Cole, Mac Miller, and more.
