Daybreaker is a project that arose out of two challenges: To tell a story without using words, and to tell that story as loudly as possible with three people. Consisting of Cristian Marsella on guitar and piano, Daniele Narelli on drums, and Anthony Sylvester on bass, Daybreaker is setting out to make their mark on instrumental music with a brand of rock that is exciting, dynamic, and eclectic. With such influences as Ennio Morricone, Dick Dale, Rage Against the Machine, Kate Bush, and horror movie soundtracks, Daybreaker’s sound is anything but stagnant.

The band began around early 2017, when Cristian Marsella put together a solo electronic EP that caught the attention of a North Park booking agent. After being contacted to play a show, Cristian asked if he could enlist the help of his cousin, Daniele, and childhood friend, Anthony, to help bring the songs to life on stage; And so, Daybreaker was born. Although their catalog is still small, their songs cover lots of bases, from the moody and slick, “Chrome Nightmare”, to the angular and frantic, “Raindancing”, to the over-the-top and intergalactic ode to a NASA satellite, “Cassini Returns”.

Other songs, such as the surf rock meltdown, “Surfing Sucks”, and the jazz-tinged, “Cloudburst”, show the flexibility of Daybreaker’s sound. When you go to one of their shows, you’ll find that the band like to incorporate short covers into their set; interwoven between their songs are such covers as Kanye West’s, “New Slaves”, Britney Spears’, “Toxic”, and Pantera’s, “I’m Broken”.

Still in the early stages of the band, Daybreaker are excited to build upon their sound and incorporate large visuals into their live shows. Ultimately, the band would like to see their music find a home in movies and TV shows.
