Joker’s Hand is an American rock band based in Los Angeles, CA. The band started off as a duo, formed by Kevin Kawano (guitar, vocals, bass) and Matthew Lau (guitar, vocals, bass), who were roommates at the time, during their fourth year in college in Santa Cruz, CA. The band started to play shows throughout the Bay Area in late 2017. In June of 2018, Joker’s Hand released their debut album entitled “Year Four,” onto all major music platforms. During this time the band relocated to Los Angeles and began to tour heavily throughout Southern California along with their newest member, Caden Moskowitz (drums).

The album features a number of different sounds, from high energy rock songs such as “Six Feet Under,” “Off-Planet,” and “Monica,” to the reggae/ska inspired “Where The Sewage Meets The Sea.” Year Four also features “Wallflower,” a soft and atmospheric ballad that steps away from high energy of the previously mentioned tracks. Two other mid-tempo ballad tracks on the album include the piano based “Come Around,” and the guitar driven “Sheepskin Disguise.” The album was released along with a number of self-produced/directed music videos.

Joker’s Hand utilizes vocal harmony hooks along with extensive guitar work, driving basslines, and intricate drumming that compliments the music.
